Survey results from a recent Propeller Health study to be presented at the 2022 American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) Annual Meeting found that the majority of patients (68.7%) find their use of remote care helpful. Of the 441 patients surveyed, about one third of patients reported that they connected with their asthma providers through video visits and messaging services.

Reducing dose frequency may help improve asthma medication adherence

Findings from a Propeller Health study recently published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology demonstrated that patients with asthma who are prescribed once-daily dosing schedules are more likely to adhere to their controller medications than those with twice-daily prescriptions. The percentage of patients who achieved greater than 80% adherence was also significantly higher for once-daily users compared to twice-daily users, with once-daily users being 1.4 times as likely to achieve high medication adherence as twice-daily users.

New research shows Propeller improves outcomes for patients with high burden of COPD

At Propeller, we want to make this information accessible to patients and their clinicians so they can make informed decisions and understand long-term trends in the patient’s condition. To do so, we prompt patients with COPD to take the CAT once a month in the Propeller app and share the results with patients and their providers. By combining CAT scores and the objective medication usage data Propeller collects, we can better understand the patient’s COPD status and the need for further intervention. In a new article published in Frontiers in Digital Health, we observed significant, parallel improvements in CAT scores and rescue inhaler use among 611 patients with COPD using the Propeller platform.
