Digital health startup Mobio Interactive secures $1.8M in seed funding

Founded in 2015, Singapore-headquartered digital health company Mobio Interactive announced that it has closed $1.8 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Singapore-based Verge HealthTech Fund along with Atlas Asset Management, Creative Ventures and VC giant SOSV. Mobio Interactive develops and commercializes clinically validated and objectively quantified software to prevent, measure and treat mental illness. The funds will be used to advance the deep tech and clinical validation of Am Mindfulness (AmDTx), which was the first and currently only meditation app which the company claims to outperform placebo in randomized controlled trials. Am is available for download from the app stores, and premium access can be purchased through subscriptions. Mobio Interactive’s digital therapeutic platform “AmDTx” is CE MDD Class I and DCB0129 certified; GDPR-, HIPAA- and PHIPA-compliant; and undergoing certification for CE MDR Class IIa, ISO 13485, ISO 9000 and ISO 27001

Voluntis obtains €2 million in non-dilutive financing

Voluntis, a leader in digital therapeutics, announces today that it has obtained a state-guaranteed loan (Prêt Garanti par l’Etat, or PGE in France) from BNP Paribas. This €2 million loan with an initial term of one year and is fully repayable on maturity. Repayment of the amounts due may be deferred again, at the company’s option, until September 2026. The French State guarantees 90% of the amounts due.

Swedish digital health firm Joint Academy raises $23M in Series B round

Swedish firm Joint Academy has raised $23 million in Series B funding for its clinical evidence-based digital treatment for chronic joint pain, which connects patients with licensed physical therapists. The round was led by international investment company Kinnevik and participated in by existing investors Karl-Johan Persson (H&M chairman) and Alfvén & Didrikso. To date, the company, which was previously known as Artho Therapeutics, has raised $34.2 million. Since being founded in 2014, Joint Academy has treated 25,000 patients who suffer from chronic hip and knee pain through its app.

Wise Therapeutics Raises Pre-Seed Funding; Releases Free Version of Personal Zen App

Wise Therapeutics, a digital therapeutics company created to improve access to effective mental health treatments using digital interventions, announced the closing of its first outside funding of $525,000 to support Android development and early rollout of its flagship app Personal Zen for stress and anxiety. The app offers a game-like cognitive training algorithm that is based on years of clinical research by its co-founder Dr Tracy Dennis-Tiwary. Its pre-seed funding round was led by SeedLink SL, an early-stage VC investor focusing on digital health and technology solutions, including additional investors Teem Ventures, a NYC-based venture development studio, and Reshma Saujani, a women’s leadership advocate and the Founder of Girls Who Code.

Sidekick Health Raises $20 million Series A Funding

Nordic digital therapeutics company, Sidekick Health, has closed a $20 million Series A led by pan-European VC Wellington Partners and healthcare focused VC Asabys Partners. Existing investors, Novator and Frumtak Ventures, also participated in the oversubscribed round. Sidekick Health’s platform addresses multiple therapeutic areas — offering what’s described as ‘evidence-based’, custom gamified digital therapeutics packages for conditions including diabetes, ulcerative colitis and smoking cessation. The new funding is going towards “further growth”, per Thorgeirsson — “both in terms of expanding the product but also accelerating our growth in both Europe and into the US market”. “We’re investing funds into the growth instead of aiming for profitability at this point,” he adds.

Lark Health Raises $55 million in Series C

Lark Health, a provider of chronic disease prevention and management programs, closed a $55 million Series C funding round. It will use the new funds to advance partnerships with telehealth providers and commercial payers, starting with Anthem. So far, Lark Health has served nearly 2 million patients through its programs. The company has existing partnerships with several large Blue health plans, and regional health plans, such as Bloomington, Minnesota-based HealthPartners, Lark Health CEO Julia Hu said in an email. The company will initially use the funds to expand its partnership with Anthem.
