WellDoc partners with J&J's LifeScan, raises $7.5 million more

Baltimore, Maryland-based WellDoc has announced a collaboration with LifeScan, a Johnson and Johnson company that makes blood glucose meters. WellDoc also raised an additional $7.5 million from Johnson & Johnson Innovation and other investors, bringing the company’s total funding in its most recent round to $29.5 million. WellDoc plans to work with LifeScan to integrate BlueStar, an FDA-cleared mobile application and program for people with Type II diabetes, with LifeScan’s OneTouch Verio Flex Bluetooth Smart blood glucose monitoring system and its companion app, OneTouch Reveal mobile app.

Finnish health technology company Netmedi raises $940k seed funding

Netmedi, developer of the Kaiku Health platform, announced a $940k raise for its seed investment round. The financing round is being led by Jaakko Ollila from Metsola Ventures, private investor and founder of Med Group Kustaa Piha, Harri Tilev from T&T Nordcap along with significant participation from prior lead investor Reaktor Ventures.

Arthro Therapeutics raises $2.2M for digital therapeutic for arthritis

Arthro Therapeutics, a Swedish startup creating digital therapeutics for the treatment of arthritis, has raised $2.2 million in seed funding. Sweet Capital led the round, and previous investors Dendera Ventures and Incos Invest also contributed. Several angel investors also pitched in, including Sophia Bendz, Hampus Jakobsson, and Tim Jackson. Lund University also contributed. The company had $1 million in funding already, so this brings its total funding to $3.2 million. Arthro's first product, Joint Academy, is a CE-marked digital version of an evidence-based program called "Better Management of OsteoArthritis" or BOA.

Omada Health raises $950K to serve low income populations

San Francisco-based Omada Health has received $950,000 from the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) and The Kresge Foundation to expand its prediabetes program, called Prevent, to low income populations in the US. Omada Health will use the funds to conduct Prevent pilots in certain low income clinics. The company also said they would increase access to Prevent "amongst Medicaid plans nationwide".
