Paige raises $45M more to map the pathology of cancer using AI

One of the more notable startups using artificial intelligence to understand and fight cancer has raised $45 million more in funding to continue building out its operations and inch closer to commercialising its work. Paige — which applies AI-based methods such as machine learning to better map the pathology of cancer, an essential component of understanding the origins and progress of a disease with seemingly infinite mutations (its name is an acronym of Pathology AI Guidance Engine) — says it will be use the funding to inch closer to FDA approvals for products it is developing in areas such as biomarkers and prognostic capabilities.

Kaiku Health raises €4.4 million series A financing to accelerate its digital therapeutics pipeline

Finnish digital health company Kaiku Health Oy, which provides intelligent patient monitoring software for healthcare providers across Europe, has closed a €4.4 million funding round. Can an app warn you that you might have skin cancer? Digital health startup SkinVision is using smartphone tech and vision algorithms to allow consumers to track changes to their moles. SkinVision is now announcing what a terms a late Series A/early Series B funding round of €3 million ($3.4M), bringing its total raised to date to between €5 million and €6 million. Since the initial app launch, the business has grown into what Uyttewaal terms a “solutions platform”, monetizing its software via different monthly subscription pricing models — which vary depending on the country.

PicnicHealth launched out of Y Combinator last summer with a service that promised to help chronically ill patients gather all their records from all their doctors and put them in one easy-to-access online profile.
