WellDoc raises $22M for its BlueStar mobile-enabled diabetes management offering

Baltimore, Maryland-based WellDoc has raised $22 million in a round led by Samsung Ventures and Merck Global Health Innovation (GHI) Fund with participation from Adage Capital Management, Excel Venture Management, Alexandria Venture Investments and Hudson River Capital Partners.

mySugr raises a few million euros for diabetes app

Diabetes app maker mySugr, which is based in Austria and the US, raised a few million euros in an investment round led by XL Health and Puspok. Johann Hansmann, an angel investor that has previously invested in Runtastic, also participated. mySugr had previously raised another round from Hansmann and Austria's state owned investment bank, AWS.

Senseonics Raises $20 Million; Brings in New VP of Sales and Marketing

Senseonics, a privately held medical device company focused on the development and commercialization of the first fully implantable, long-term continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system, announced that it has raised an additional $20 million of private equity financing. Senseonics also announced that Mirasol Panlilio, formerly of Abbott Diabetes Care and LifeScan, has joined the company as Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing.

HelpAround raises $550K for sharing economy diabetes app

Israel-based HelpAround, which makes an app that connects people with diabetes in the same immediate area , has raised $550,000 from Windham Venture Partners and angel investors Walter Winshall, Robert Oringer and former Harmonix COO Michael Dornbrook. Windham and the angel investors co-led the round. The app allows patients with diabetes and parents of children with diabetes to reach out to a nearby support network if they forget test strips at home, need help operating a Glucagon injection, or just want to talk to someone about their diabetes. Outside of crisis situations, anonymous networks of people can help each other find local healthcare services, insurance plans, doctors, pharmacies and retailers.

Omada Health raises $950K to serve low income populations

San Francisco-based Omada Health has received $950,000 from the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) and The Kresge Foundation to expand its prediabetes program, called Prevent, to low income populations in the US. CHCF contributed $450,000 through its CHCF Health Innovation Fund and Kresge Foundation contributed $500,000 through its Social Investment Practice. Omada Health will use the funds to conduct Prevent pilots in certain low income clinics.

Telcare raises $32.5 million for cellular-enabled glucose meter, to expand to related conditions

Bethesda, Maryland-based cellular-enabled blood glucose meter company Telcare has raised $32.5 million led by Norwest Venture Partners with participation from Mosaic Health Solutions and existing backers The Qualcomm Life Fund and Sequoia Capital. The latest round of funding takes Telcare's total disclosed funding to north of $60 million . Telcare offers a diabetes management package that includes a cellular-enabled glucose meter with two-way messaging that transmits to an FDA-cleared care management server, in addition to iPhone and Android apps that help keep family members in the loop about the progress of loved ones with diabetes.
