New Publication Compares Remote Electrical Neuromodulation for Acute Treatment of Migraine to Treatment with Acute Medications

Theranica, a bio-medical technology company developing advanced electroceuticals for migraine and other pain disorders, announced today the publication of a peer-reviewed paper demonstrating that Remote Electrical Neuromodulation (REN) is as effective as acute pharmacological treatments in treating the symptoms of migraine. The article, published in The Journal of Headache and Pain, compared the efficacy of Theranica's Nerivio™ REN device to previous acute care in the same patients. The post-hoc analysis used data from a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled pivotal study in adult migraine patients.

People With Diabetes Using One Drop & Afrezza Significantly Lower A1c In 3 Months

In a partnership between One Drop and Mannkind, the A-One randomized control trial was conducted to evaluate inhalable insulin and digital therapy among people with type 2 diabetes. Participants were randomized to receive One Drop + Afrezza, or One Drop + their current injectable bolus insulin. All enrolled participants used One Drop's solution for 3 months and people in the One Drop + Afrezza group received a 3-month supply of Afrezza upon receipt of a prescription. Results showed that people with type 2 diabetes using One Drop's integrated digital diabetes care platform with Afrezza inhaled insulin improve their A1c by an absolute -0.93%.

New Study Signals Benefits of Digital Therapy for Stroke Patients

The Learning Corp, a next generation digital therapeutics company, has published the first large scale retrospective study of post-stroke rehabilitation practices that compares outcomes among patients using tablet-based therapy at home and those who complete the same therapy in a clinic. The study, published in Frontiers in Neurology, analyzed data from 3,686 Constant Therapy users—patients with post-stroke aphasia—over a four year period (2013-2017). The study’s findings are relevant to the more than seven million people in the United States who are living post-stroke and the approximately 2.5 million people living with aphasia due to stroke.

Study: Behavioral coaching app reduces hypertensive participants' blood pressure

The investigation examined Better Therapeutics’ candidate digital therapeutic for cardiovascular disease, a daily-use app that encourages users to set and record their progress toward individualized behavioral goals. The app is supported by a remote multidisciplinary team that looks to support healthy behavior changes, with users receiving scheduled calls from a health coach over the course of a 12-week program. Among 172 participants with hypertension, 75 percent achieved a “clinically meaningful” improvement in blood pressure. The group was 86 percent women and the mean age in the sample was 55.

CureApp Announces Results from World’s First Randomized Control Study for Digital Therapeutic Smoking Cessation App

Results from the world’s first randomized control study to examine digital therapeutic smoking cessation programs were presented on May 20th at the American Thoracic Society International Conference. Total of 572 patient data was used for analysis. The main evaluation item is "Continuous Abstinence Rate (CAR) at Week 9-24". The findings demonstrate that CureApp’s nicotine dependence treatment app resulted in an improvement in continuous abstinence rate (CAR) compared to a control group over multiple time points.

Study: Combination of self-monitoring blood glucose device & DTx improve patient outcomes

At the 79th Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association in San Francisco, pharma giant Roche and India-based digital therapeutics company Wellthy Therapeutics presented real world data of improved diabetes care outcomes in a South Asian population when patients followed prescribed plan of medication and lifestyle modification in conjunction with a combination therapy of self-monitoring blood glucose device and a clinically validated digital therapeutic (DTx). The study evaluated data from 833 individuals who used both the Accu-Chek Active blood glucose monitor and the Wellthy Care Digital Therapeutic, to form an iPDM (integrated personalised diabetes management) solution. The study demonstrated that increased engagement on the combined Digital Therapeutic (DTx) was highly correlated with reduced blood sugar levels from baseline.
