Roche Ventures, iSeed Fund invest $4.8M in diabetes app company mySugr

Austria-based diabetes app company mySugr has raised $4.8 million from Roche Ventures and iSeed Ventures. Existing investor XLHealth also contributed to the round, which will help mySugr scale up its user base in the US and other other countries.

Glooko gets $16.5 million from Canaan Partners, Medtronic

Diabetes management platform Glooko has raised $16.5 million in a round led by Canaan Partners. The round also included a strategic investment from Medtronic as well as funding from additional investors The Social+Capital Partnership and Samsung.

Tandem Diabetes Care Announces Closing of Underwritten Public Offering of Common Stock

Tandem Diabetes Care®, Inc. (NASDAQ: TNDM), a medical device company and manufacturer of the t:slim® and t:flex™ Insulin Pumps, today announced the closing of its previously announced underwritten public offering of 6,037,500 shares of common stock at a price to the public of $11.50 per share, which includes the exercise in full by the underwriters of their option to purchase up to an additional 787,500 shares. All of the shares in the offering were offered by Tandem.

Tullman's diabetes startup Livongo picks up $20M from Kleiner, DFJ

Livongo Health, the diabetes management company launched last fall by former Allscripts CEO Glen Tullman, has raised $20 million in second-round funding. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) and DFJ Venture contributed to the round, as did previous investor General Catalyst Partners.

Ayogo raises $2.5M for customizable patient engagement app

Vancouver-based Ayogo has raised $2.5 million from Merck Global Health Innovation Fund (GHI), Excel Venture Management, and 7Wire Ventures for it's patient engagement offering, an app called Empower. The app, designed for providers and pharma companies, helps patients with chronic conditions stick to their care plans. Ayogo has previously adapted the platform for patients dealing with type 2 diabetes, obesity and bariatric surgery preparation, insomnia, and illnesses subject to injection fatigue.

Roche gets FDA clearance, brief recall for diabetes management app

In March, Roche received FDA clearance for its Accu-Chek Connect companion app, and, less than a month later, issued a recall of that app. During internal testing, Roche discovered that in Germany, South Africa, and Italy, the app was causing inaccurate bolus advice in situations where the phone orientation changed from portrait to landscape during the calculation, prompting Roche to issue a recall.

Razorfish’s Jeff Dachis Launches One Drop, An App For Diabetics To Log And Share Info With Each Other

Co-founder of digital marketing agency Razorfish Jeff Dachis has a new app for diabetes called One Drop, which just launched in the App Store today. Users of the app can enter their personal insulin levels using a glucose meter, log the effectiveness of their medication, what they recently ate and what types of activities might affect their blood sugar. The food component will let users snap a picture, rather than searching for and adding in the food and nutrition information.

Cox Enterprises invests in digital diabetes management startup Rimidi

Atlanta, Georgia-based Cox Enterprises has invested in local company Rimidi, which has developed diabetes management and population health software. Rimidi said it would use the funds to expand into other markets. Rimidi's app, called Diabetes + Me, can be paired with connected glucometers, like those from Telcare and iHealth. In addition to tracking their glucose readings, users can track other health metrics in the app, including diet, exercise, and stress. They can also access educational material about diabetes.

Healthcare Startup Noom Raises $16.15M Series B To Expand Its Personalized Coaching Platform

Noom, a mobile healthcare startup that focuses on using data to prevent diseases, announced today that it has raised a $16.15 million Series B.The round was led by InterVest Co Ltd, a South Korea venture capital firm, with participation from LB Investment, Hanmi IT, RRE Ventures, TransLink Capital, and Qualcomm Ventures. Noom raised its $7 million Series A in February 2014 and has also received grants from organizations including the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
