Diabetes monitoring startup wins a $50,000 Seed Boost fund during Speed@BDD’s fifth Demo Day

Spike, a mobile assistant that helps diabetics better manage their diabetes, won the second edition of Speed@BDD’s Seed Boost. The startup took back home $50,000 equity investment (five percent) which will help it further grow and develop its product in the upcoming months prior to securing the next round of investment.

Senseonics closes $150m public offering

Senseonics said today that it closed an underwritten public offering of its common stock, reeling in $149.5 million in total proceeds. Tandem Diabetes Care Announces Closing of $115 Million Underwritten Public Offering of Common Stock

Tandem Diabetes Care today announced the closing of its previously announced underwritten public offering of 3,508,770 shares of common stock at a price to the public of $28.50 per share. In addition, the underwriters fully exercised an option to purchase 526,315 additional shares of common stock at the public offering price. All of the shares in the offering were offered by Tandem, with gross proceeds to Tandem of approximately $115 million.

One Medical raises $350 million from Carlyle Group to help double up offices and offerings

One Medical has confirmed to TechCrunch it has closed on funding from the Carlyle Group for a new cash infusion worth $350 million. This announcement follows an earlier report this week One Medical was seeking to close a $200 million deal, on top of a possible $100 million in stock for the financing firm. However, we have since learned the deal is a tad higher, including $220 toward the primary equity investment and another $130 million in a secondary investment.

$2 MILLION GRANT TO POWER BIONIC PANCREAS TRIALS

Beta Bionics announced October 9, 2018 that it has been awarded a grant up to $2 million by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), which is part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Beta Bionics is a medical technology company using machine learning and artificial intelligence to develop and commercialize the world’s first autonomous bionic pancreas—the iLet system.
