Big Health Raises $12M to Bring Evidence-Based Digital Medicine to Millions

Digital health company Big Health today announces a new round of $12 million led by Octopus Ventures with Kaiser Permanente Ventures, returning investor Index Ventures, as well as Sean Duffy (CEO, Omada Health) and JamJar Investments, the UK-based investment fund of the innocent drinks founders. They join existing investors Esther Dyson and Peter Read.

Vida Health raises $18M for health and wellness coaching app

San Francisco-based digital health coaching startup Vida Health has raised $18 million in Series B funding in a round led by Canvas Ventures. Nokia Growth Partners and existing investor Aspect Ventures also contributed to the round, which brings the company’s total funding to a little under $28 million.

SWORD Health closes $25 million Series B round to accelerate company growth

Digital physical therapy company SWORD Health has raised $25 million in a Series B funding round, led by Todd Cozzens, a managing partner at Transformation Capital. The round also had participation from existing investors Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund, Green Innovations, Vesalius Biocapital and Faber. With these funds, in addition to the $9 million it raised last year, SWORD Health has received $50 million in total funding, the company said in its announcement. The company plans to use the funds to further accelerate the growth it has had over the last year. Coming out of 2020, SWORD Health had significant increases in both revenue and users, it said in the announcement.

Meru Health secures $30M in equity for ‘holistic’ online mental health platform

As COVID forced people to seek online options for all types of healthcare, including mental health, it’s no surprise that Meru Health grew its customer base by 10x and saw about 700% revenue growth in 2020. And today, the startup is announcing that it has secured $38 million in a Series B round of funding, bringing its total raised since its 2016 inception to $51.3 million. Industry Ventures led the $30 million equity round. The remaining $8 million was secured in debt. Early backers Bold Capital Partners, Foundry Group, Freestyle VC, FMZ Ventures and Leksell Social Ventures also participated in the equity financing, while J.P. Morgan funded the debt portion of the round.

Johnson & Johnson joins WellDoc’s big funding round

WellDoc’s Series B just got closer to $30 million. The Midtown-based company, which makes an app for managing type 2 diabetes, announced a total of $29.5 million in its Series B on Tuesday. In December, company officials said they raised $22 million, led by Samsung Ventures and Merck Global Health Innovation Fund.
