Kaia Back Pain, a digital therapy for the treatment of non-specific back pain has been permanently added to the Directory of Digital Health Applications (DiGA) by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM), adding to the Kaia COPD DiGA listing in December. The digital therapy is available free of charge to Germans with statutory health insurance when prescribed.

Pear Therapeutics' PDTs added to Florida Medicaid Preferred Drug List

Pear Therapeutics' reSET and reSET-O prescription digital therapeutics are available to Florida's five million Medicaid patients via its Preferred Drug List as of this month. Patients can access Pear's reSET for substance use disorder and reSET-O for opioid use disorder. MyndVR announces first-ever payer partnership, expanding VR therapy to seniors in New York

MyndVR, a therapeutic VR company focused on seniors, is now covered by insurance for the first time through a managed care organization in New York. The company’s VR content has been available to AgeWell’s Carewell members since the start of this year. While the DTx market has gained significant momentum over the last half-decade, DTx developers continue to face challenges, particularly related to coverage, payer acceptance and provider use. The existing barriers have prevented more widespread adoption of products – particularly prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs), which are FDA-cleared software-based treatments required to be prescribed by clinicians. “Insurance coverage is absolutely critical,” Ben Lewis, co-founder and CEO of Limbix, a digital therapeutics solution for adolescent mental health, told Fierce Healthcare in October.

HelloBetter Sleep: First online therapy programme for organic and nonorganic insomnia available on prescription in Germany

HelloBetter Sleep has secured approval as HelloBetter’s sixth DiGA (prescription digital therapeutic) by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and is now included in the DiGA directory. HelloBetter Sleep is the only prescription digital therapeutic that is approved not just for the treatment of nonorganic insomnia (ICD-10 F51.0), but also organic insomnia (ICD-10 G47.0) in Germany. All statutory as well as many private health insurers will cover the costs of HelloBetter Sleep in full, making it available free of charge to 73 million people in Germany. Over the last 14 months, HelloBetter has managed to secure six regulatory DiGA approvals – more than any other company.
