CVS Health program for PBM clients adds five new digital health programs including Hinge Health

A CVS Health service designed to help CVS Caremark pharmacy benefit management clients more easily roll out and manage third-party health products has added five new digital health offerings to its lineup, including Hinge Health which uses wearable sensors and one-on-one health coaching to deliver in-home musculoskeletal health therapies. The program – which has also seen a branding change from "Vendor Benefit Management" to "Point Solutions Management" – was first announced last June with only single participating vendor: Big Health.

CVS Caremark adds five companies to digital health platform, including Hello Heart

Hello Heart, and a handful of other digital health companies will join CVS Health’s platform for PBM clients. CVS announced it would add five companies to its Point Solutions Management Service, a service it launched last year to make it easier for CVS Caremark clients to contract with third-party apps and monitor their performance. CVS said it plans to add more digital health solutions in the future, including in weight loss, women’s health, mental health, and other categories.

NHS staff across England get free access to mental health apps Daylight and Sleepio

NHS England has announced a national mental health support programme to provide NHS staff with evidence-based digital programmes to protect their mental health during the COVID-19 response. The NHS-accredited apps Daylight – designed to help with worry and anxiety – and Sleepio – a digital sleep improvement programme featuring Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques – are both developed by digital therapeutics company Big Health. Fifteen NHS trusts and six GP practices have already rolled out access to the programmes to over 100,000 staff, with the apps now made freely available to all NHS employees across the country in partnership with NHS England.

PBM RemedyOne will offer Pear Therapeutics reSET, reSET-O

Digital therapeutics company Pear Therapeutics has inked a deal with pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) RemedyOne, allowing the latter to offer and administer benefit coverage for the formers’ prescription-addiction-focused therapies reSET and reSET-O to its customers. Both reSET and reSET-O have FDA clearances. In fact, reSET was the first software-only therapeutic to get the designation. reSET focuses on treating individuals with substance use disorder and reSET-O was specifically designed to treat individuals with opioid use disorder. In both of the tools, the therapy is delivered by a software that can be accessed on a patient’s smartphone.

Kaiku Health extends its cooperation with Hirslanden Radiotherapy to digital symptom management of cancer patients undergoing oncological rehabilitation

Hirslanden Radiotherapy in Switzerland has implemented Kaiku Health as a digital patient management solution in the Oncological Rehabilitation of cancer patients in Aargau (ORA) program. The first pilot group of patients started to use Kaiku Health as a part of their rehabilitation on June 1st 2020. The rehabilitation project aims to restore patients’ physical, social and mental wellbeing during and after cancer treatments. It includes psychological, sexual, physical and nutritional follow-up and therapy in order to holistically improve the patients’ quality of life. The pilot also investigates how digital symptom management can be used to support cancer patients’ rehabilitation.
