Effects of Customized Digital Health Care Service on Metabolic Syndrome Status and Lifestyle Using a Health Care App: Clinical Trial

Previous studies relating to digital health care demonstrated its effectiveness in managing chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. While many studies have applied digital health care to various diseases, daily health care is needed for healthy individuals before they are diagnosed with a disease. This study aimed to identify the effects of using a customized digital health care service (CDHCS) on risk factors for metabolic syndrome (MS) and lifestyle improvement. The CDHCS used in this study, called Dr Healthing, was developed by the Mediage Research Institute. Dr Healthing provides information regarding the health status of individuals by analyzing the data linked to health checkups from medical institutions and average daily step count data from a Samsung Health app. The population consisted of 63 adults who underwent a health checkup at the National Health Insurance Service Ilsan (NHIS, South Korea) Hospital in 2020.

Hello Heart joins other digital health players taking on menopause as overlooked market gains attention

Hello Heart, a startup that helps people manage their heart health at home using their smartphone, rolled out a new feature that provides menopausal women with the tools and information they need to take control of their heart health. While symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats are widely recognized, the cardiovascular risks for women entering menopause often can't be seen or felt and many women aren’t even aware of them. Menopause sharply reduces estrogen levels in women and can increase the risk for heart disease, according to Edo Paz, M.D., cardiologist and senior vice president of medical affairs at Hello Heart. Hello Heart's new mobile app feature will provide women with credible information about menopause and the hormonal changes that can contribute to increased heart risk, as well as actionable insights around managing symptoms and reducing heart risk, Paz said.
