VBL Therapeutics and Notable Labs Announce Definitive Merger Agreement

VBL Therapeutics (Nasdaq:VBLT), a biotechnology company developing targeted medicines for immune-inflammatory diseases, and Notable Labs, Inc., a clinical stage therapeutic platform company developing predictive precision medicines for cancer patients, today announced they have entered into a definitive merger agreement. The combined company will focus on the advancement of Notable’s proprietary Predictive Precision Medicines Platform (“PPMP”) and therapeutic pipeline focused on cancer patients with high unmet medical needs. Notable’s PPMP combines multi-dimensional biological assays and machine learning to bio-simulate a patient’s cancer treatment and predict their clinical response to the actual treatment. Concurrent with the execution of the merger agreement, a healthtech-focused investor syndicate, including existing Notable stockholders Builders VC, B Capital Group, Y Combinator, First Round Capital, and Founders Fund, have entered into a definitive securities purchase agreement with Notable to invest $10.3 million in gross proceeds prior to the close of the proposed merger.

Carevive Systems and Blue Spark Technologies Partner to Conduct Real-Time Remote Patient Monitoring Pilot

Carevive Systems announced today a partnership with Blue Spark Technologies, a leader and an innovator in wearable wireless medical device solutions. The study will integrate Carevive’s expertise in Patient Reported Outcomes (ePROs) data with Blue Spark’s TempTraq continuous wearable remote temperature monitoring solution to investigate how early fever detection can guide clinical decision-making for adult oncology patients who are at increased risk for infection. Patients in the study will report their symptoms through Carevive’s PROmpt® while wearing Blue Spark’s TempTraq®, a soft wearable patch that continuously, safely and comfortably monitors body temperature, allowing clinicians to also monitor real-time patient health data. Labcorp forges latest AI deal, partnering with ConcertAI for cancer studies

Labcorp has teamed with ConcertAI to use the latter’s technology to optimize clinical trials of candidate cancer drug therapies. The partnership – financial terms of which were not disclosed – will see Labcorp use artificial intelligence software to aid clinical trial design, protocol optimization, site selection and study execution activities. The firms will also incorporate real-world data into the optimization process. The plan to analyze patient availability at cancer centers worldwide to ensure that the design of a trial contains a diverse set of participants to measure drug safety and effectiveness in broadly representative populations.

Real-World Data Collab Aims to Improve Diversity in Cancer Clinical Trials

The National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCI NCORP)-designated Louisiana State University (LSU) Health New Orleans is collaborating with artificial intelligence (AI) and real-world data solutions company ConcertAI to improve diversity in clinical trials and ensure broader access for cancer patients. The collaboration is part of ongoing work by LSU Health New Orleans and NCI NCORP to establish and improve the clinical trials network in the Gulf South region. According to the press release, NCI awarded LSU Health New Orleans a $5.6 million grant to create the network and another $13.6 million to expand it, with an emphasis on reaching underserved and minority patients. The collaboration also aligns with ConcertAI’s ERACE (Engaging Research to Achieve Cancer Care Equality) program. "The collaboration will identify current cancer care disparities in Louisiana and how they can be addressed," said Augusto Ochoa, MD, an LSU Health New Orleans NCORP principal investigator, in the press release.
