Qure X-ray solution launched on Blackford Platform

Blackford, the platform for medical imaging applications and AI, today announced that Qure.ai’s qXR solution is now available on Blackford Platform. qXR is an AI-powered solution that reads and triages chest X-rays, reducing the chances of late diagnoses, under diagnoses and even potential misdiagnoses to deliver better patient care. Using deep learning algorithms to read and triage chest X-rays in less than a minute, qXR detects abnormal findings. Its patented algorithms can detect a total of 29 findings in a chest X-ray, including detection of multiple findings in the lungs, pleura, heart, bones and diaphragm.

Aidence lung nodule AI tool launched on Blackford Platform

Blackford, the platform for medical imaging applications and AI, today announced that the Veye Lung Nodules tool is now available on Blackford Platform. Developed by Aidence, Veye Lung Nodules is an AI-based solution for pulmonary nodule management on chest CT scans. The tool detects, measures, classifies, and tracks the growth of pulmonary nodules as small as 3 mm. The solution is CE-marked as a class IIb medical device under the new EU Medical Device Regulation and can be used as a second or concurrent reader. Blackford’s single dedicated platform transforms the deployment, orchestration, management and support of multiple imaging applications and AI tools.

OWise wins top NESTA Healthier Lives Data Fund Prize

Px Healthcare won £60,000 in funding from the Scottish Government to keep developing their products and scale them across Scotland. This funding was in addition to the £30,000 originally awarded to organisations involved in the Healthier Lives Data Fund. This fund is a partnership between Nesta and the Scottish Government which, over the last year, has supported six projects in Scotland that demonstrated what can be achieved when health or care data is used to give control back to the individual.

Mayo Clinic and IBM Task Watson to Improve Clinical Trial Research

Mayo Clinic and IBM today announced plans to pilot Watson, the IBM cognitive computer, to match patients more quickly with appropriate clinical trials, beginning with research studies in cancer. A proof-of-concept phase is currently underway. This version of Watson will be especially designed for Mayo Clinic. As it progresses in its tasks and matures through this collaboration, it will learn more about the clinical trials matching process, become even more efficient and likely more generalizable.

Elekta and IBM Watson Health Bringing Artificial Intelligence to Oncology

Elekta announced it is collaborating with IBM Watson Health to offer Watson for Oncology with Elekta’s cancer care solutions. Under the terms of a new agreement, Elekta will sell Watson for Oncology beginning in early 2018 as a clinical decision support solution paired within Elekta’s digital cancer care solutions, including the Mosaiq oncology information system. Elekta intends to offer both solutions in most markets around the world including the U.S., Brazil, certain major European and Asian markets, as well as India and Australia.
