Israeli research institute makes great contributions to cancer research

Graduates and professors of Israeli institute the Technion have made large contributions in the field of cancer research and treatment. Technion professor Yuval Shaked, together with startup OncoHost, is responsible for the creation of a blood test that will help doctors to provide personalized treatment plans to cancer patients, and plans for clinical trials in the UK in collaboration with the country’s National Healthcare System are in the works.

Two leading university hospitals implement Kaiku Health in Central Europe

Kaiku Health is strengthening its foothold in Central Europe as the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) in Switzerland and University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein Lübeck in Germany will implement Kaiku Health in the symptom management and patient-reported outcome monitoring of their cancer patients. Kaiku Health was piloted at the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) in 2019. The platform will be gradually provided for all patients who receive chemotherapy for local or metastatic breast, colorectal or lung cancer. University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein Lübeck will implement Kaiku Health into the monitoring and management of toxicities of lung cancer patients treated with immunotherapies and receiving either mono- or combination therapies.

Bayer and Exscientia Collaborate to Leverage the Potential of Artificial Intelligence in Cardiovascular and Oncology Drug Discovery

Bayer and Exscientia Ltd., a UK-based Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven drug discovery company, have entered into a three-year, multi-target collaboration. The partners will work on early research projects combining Exscientia's proprietary AI drug discovery platform and drug design know-how with Bayer's data and drug discovery capabilities. They aim to identify and optimize novel lead structures for potential drug candidates to treat cardiovascular and oncological diseases. Exscientia may be eligible to receive up to EUR 240 million, including upfront and research payments, near term and clinical milestones. As part of the agreement, Exscientia may also receive sales royalties. Bayer owns the rights to novel lead structures generated as part of the collaboration.
