MyndVR announces first-ever payer partnership, expanding VR therapy to seniors in New York

MyndVR, a therapeutic VR company focused on seniors, is now covered by insurance for the first time through a managed care organization in New York. The company’s VR content has been available to AgeWell’s Carewell members since the start of this year. CareWell plan members can use MyndVR headsets to enjoy virtual travel, special adventures and entertainment. They can also share their experiences in real time with relatives using VR. MyndVR hopes to continue expanding coverage among Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid plans.

SILVERCLOUD WINS HSE TENDER TO PROVIDE DIGITAL MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT

Irish founded tech company SilverCloud Health has signed a national partnership agreement with the Health Service Executive (HSE) to provide online mental health services to patients across the country. The HSE rolled out a pilot version of the company’s digital CBT programme in 2021, which received more than 10,000 referrals from GPs and primary care psychotherapists. It said in a statement on Wednesday that active use of its digital platform has doubled since the 12-month review of the pilot programme in April.

Pear Therapeutics Expands Pipeline With Licenses of CBT and Biomarker Technologies

Pear Therapeutics announced today that it has entered into mulitple agreements with technology innovators, including NeuroLex Laboratories developing a biomarker platform for mental health problems, leading researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden developing content for clinical stage DTx, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center developing CBT and patient education against migraines, and lastly Winterlight Labs, Inc. developing a technology that analyzes and assesses cognitive health. Proteus parts ways with Otsuka as it pivots toward oncology, infectious disease treatment adherence

Following news of hardships at Proteus Digital Health, CEO Andrew Thompson has told that the company is winding down its high-profile $88 million deal with Otsuka Pharmaceutical, and will be pivoting from its current primary focus on mental disorders toward cancers and infectious disease treatments. The pharmaceutical company has now acquired the full license for Proteus’ mental health treatment adherence technology, and will be independently pursuing development for these types of therapies, a representative from Otsuka told MobiHealthNews in an email statement.

NHS staff across England get free access to mental health apps Daylight and Sleepio

NHS England has announced a national mental health support programme to provide NHS staff with evidence-based digital programmes to protect their mental health during the COVID-19 response. The NHS-accredited apps Daylight – designed to help with worry and anxiety – and Sleepio – a digital sleep improvement programme featuring Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques – are both developed by digital therapeutics company Big Health. Fifteen NHS trusts and six GP practices have already rolled out access to the programmes to over 100,000 staff, with the apps now made freely available to all NHS employees across the country in partnership with NHS England.
