SilverCloud Health Announces $16M Series B Funding for Digital Mental Health Platform

SilverCloud Health, the world's leading digital mental health platform for healthcare systems and providers, health plans, and employers, today announced a $16 million Series B funding round led by MemorialCare Innovation Fund, which included LRVHealth, OSF Ventures and UnityPoint Health Ventures, elevating the company’s total funding to more than $30 million. Existing investors Act Venture Capital and B Capital Group participated in the round as well.

Berlin-based Digital Health Start-up HelloBetter raises millions in seed funding round

Get.On Institut GmbH, which operates under the brand name HelloBetter since the beginning of the year, today announced the closing of a financing round in the single-digit million range. Together with funds raised by its research team, the start-up now has almost five million euros at its disposal to finance further growth. Already in late summer 2019, the first money was made available through a convertible loan, enabling the team to expand from five to around 40 employees. The lead investor of the round is an holding company based in Hamburg. Other investors in the round include the Ideamed Gesundheitsgruppe from Munich (a psychotherapeutic hospital operator), and a consortium of business angels from the health and insurance sectors.

FDA: Devs can release digital products for psychiatric disorders without 510(k) submission during COVID-19 crisis

The FDA released new guidance on digital health devices for treating psychiatric disorders that waives several regulatory requirements – such as need to submit a 510(k) premarket notification – for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency. The relaxed requirements apply to what the agency calls "computerized behavioral therapy devices" and other digital health therapeutics for psychiatric disorders (for instance, a prescription app that provides cognitive behavioral therapy to treat major depressive disorder symptoms). For these, the agency listed a handful of regulatory requirements that will temporarily be set aside – so long as the devices "do not create an undue risk."

Palo Alto company Limbix grabs $9M to develop a digital therapeutic for teens with depression

Digital mental health company Limbix scored $9 million in Series A funding. The new round was led by GSR Ventures with participation from sequoia Capital, Storm Ventures, NexGen Venture Partners and BIXINK Therapeutics. Digital Mental Health support to be Provided to Young People as they Return to School

SilverCloud, the leading digital therapeutics provider, has partnered with mental health charity Northpoint Wellbeing to co-develop a new digital therapy programme to alleviate anxiety in young people. Coming at a time when children are returning to school and face huge uncertainty, it will be available for school clusters across the Leeds area and NHS Child and Adolescent Services Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Calderdale. The programme is also being rolled out nationally to other NHS and education services. The online treatment, based on cognitive behavioural therapy, is designed for young people 14 years and over but can be used for younger children if a professional assesses them as suitable.

Happify Health, AHA partner to release heart health-focused digital mental health program

Happify Health has developed and launched a new digital mental health program with the American Heart Association (AHA) that aims to reduce stress and encourage healthy behaviors among people with high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
