Happify Health releases new chronic condition management platform, Kopa for Psoriasis

Happify Health, known for its digital mental health programs, today released a platform targeted towards people with chronic conditions, called Kopa. The first component of this new platform is Kopa for Psoriasis, a product created to provide resources and community for those living with the condition. The company chose to first focus on psoriasis because of the comorbidities often associated with it, such as stress, depression, anxiety, self-consciousness and impaired social functioning.

Former Rep. Patrick Kennedy, Pear, Shatterproof join forces on new addiction focused DTx coalition

Over the last decade, the addiction and mental health space has becoming increasingly digital – so much so that the first prescription digital therapeutic, Pear’s ReSET, scored FDA clearance nearly three years ago. While more and more players begin to join the so-called "DTx" space, the technology is yet to hit the mainstream radar, but a new coalition is looking to change that. A list of high-profile players in the addiction and recovery space, including Former Congressman Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., 1995-2010, Pear Therapeutic, Shatterproof, and others in the space have come together to form the Recovery Access Coalition, which aims to advocate for access to prescription digital therapeutics.

Meaningful digital health engagement is more complicated than how long or often users log in

Sustained engagement is a key metric when determining whether a digital health-based intervention is finding its mark, but the industry has been anything but uniform in determining objective measures of user behavior and their relationship to clinical outcomes. A study published Friday in JAMA Network Open takes another approach and employs machine learning techniques to better describe engagement among 54,604 patients provided a digital health intervention – in this case, an internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) tool for depression and anxiety symptoms developed by SilverCloud Health.

Landmark Randomized Controlled Trial Demonstrates Efficacy of Daylight™ Digital Therapeutic in Improving Anxiety

The University of Oxford’s Sleep & Circadian Neuroscience Institute, and Big Health, today announced publication of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) assessing the efficacy and safety of Big Health’s Daylight product in improving symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), in the journal Depression and Anxiety. The study found that Daylight significantly reduced symptoms of anxiety in trial participants, as compared to the control group at six weeks after intervention. By week 10 follow-up, 71% of Daylight users in the study achieved remission of GAD, as compared to 33% of those in the control group.

BehaVR Partners to Advance Virtual Reality for Social Anxiety Disorder

The Acceptability and Impact of the Xploro Digital Therapeutic Platform

There is increasing interest in finding novel approaches to improve the preparation of children for hospital procedures such as surgery, x-rays, and blood tests. A digital therapeutic (DTx) platform (Xploro) was developed with children to provide health information through gamification, serious games, a chatbot, and an augmented reality avatar. Digital health startup Mobio Interactive secures $1.8M in seed funding

Founded in 2015, Singapore-headquartered digital health company Mobio Interactive announced that it has closed $1.8 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Singapore-based Verge HealthTech Fund along with Atlas Asset Management, Creative Ventures and VC giant SOSV. Mobio Interactive develops and commercializes clinically validated and objectively quantified software to prevent, measure and treat mental illness. The funds will be used to advance the deep tech and clinical validation of Am Mindfulness (AmDTx), which was the first and currently only meditation app which the company claims to outperform placebo in randomized controlled trials. Am is available for download from the app stores, and premium access can be purchased through subscriptions. £1.3M TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR ALL IN WALES

The package is supported by £1.3m Welsh Government funding and includes a new online Cognitive Behaviour Therapy course and other online and phone support services. NHS Wales and partners already provide some phone and online-based mental health support but today’s announcement will extend what is already available and provide a new online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy course, that anyone aged 16 or over can access. SilverCloud offers support for a range of issues including anxiety and depression. The national pilot of the programme is being evaluated to test usability and effectiveness, building on previous work led by Powys Local Health Board which so far has supported over 3,000 people.
