Qure.ai, a Mumbai, India-based healthcare AI company, raised $16M in funding. The round was led by Sequoia India with participation from MassMutual Ventures Southeast Asia (SEA). Healthtech Company Tempus Raises $100M, Brings Total Valuation to $5B

Tempus, a genomics and data analytics unicorn out of Chicago, announced Friday it raised $100 million in Series G financing. This brings its total valuation to $5 billion. The company says it plans to use this most recent funding to enhance its operations and expand into other disease areas, including diabetes, depression and cardiology.

Cureety snaps up €1.2 million to help remotely monitor patients

French startup Cureety, a telemedicine startup that improves the follow-up and care of patients, has announced a fundraising of € 1.2 million, led by five business angels, BPI France and Cureety's existing partners, Crédit Mutuel Bretagne (CMB) and Crédit Agricole (CA) Bretagne. The startup now aims to accelerate the deployment of its system in France, which due to the current pandemic, will be needed more than ever. Europe has seen a boost in investments for telemedicine solutions in the past few weeks, for example in Estonia with Viveo Health, and in France with Wellium.

LetsGetChecked locks in $71M Series C to expand COVID-19 testing capacity

New York City-based home-lab-test startup LetsGetChecked said this morning that it has wrapped up an oversubscribed $71 million Series C round co-led by Illumina Ventures and HLM Venture Partners. The raise also included new backers Deerfield, CommonFund Capital and Angeles Investments, while investors Transformation Capital, Optum Ventures and Qiming Venture Partners USA returned to further fuel the startup's business. With this, Illumina's Nick Naclerio, founding partner, and HLM's Steven Tolle, partner, will be joining LetsGetChecked's board as members. The company said these funds will help build up its manufacturing, supply and testing capacity for COVID-19. It will be increasing activity at its California laboratory while boosting operations and partnerships across the U.S. and Europe.

UK & Ireland firms receive €40,000 from EIT Health Headstart programme

A total of 16 start-ups from across the UK and Ireland have each been awarded �40,000 and will have access to mentoring and business support through the EIT Health Headstart programme. Each of the teams will get the opportunity to boost their winnings by �10,000 at a pitching competition later this year. One of the startups, VineHealth Digital Limited (UK), allows cancer patients to better track, manage and understand their care with an app. The solution applies machine learning and behavioural science to drive behavioural change. It aims to improve quality of life, promote optimised care delivery and increased survival, and gather patient data that informs more patient-focussed healthcare and academic research.

French-American AI Startup Owkin Closes $18M Series A To Make Medical Research More Collaborative

This morning Owkin, a medical research company that uses machine learning, announced that its Series A funding round has reached $70 million. This comes after Mubadala Capital and Bpifrance entered with a late $18 million in investment. The Series A has been in the works for some time. The money has trickled in periodically. In May it announced a $25 million dollar raise. But the Series A round dates back at least two years. In 2018 the company reported that the Series A pot was up to $18.1 million.

CancerIQ raises $4.8M for its early cancer detection platform

CancerIQ, a Chicago startup that helps health care providers identify patients who have a genetic predisposition to certain cancers, announced $4.8 million in new funding this week. The Series A round was led by HealthX Ventures, a VC firm led by Mark Bakken, the founder of Nordic Consulting. Other backers include Chicago-based Impact Engine and Lightbank.
