(“Akili”), a leading digital medicine company, today announced the start of a pivotal Phase 3 randomized, controlled study of SDT-001 (a version of AKL-T01 localized for Japanese language and culture), a product candidate designed to improve measures of attention in children diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (“ADHD”). The study, conducted by Akili’s partner, global pharmaceutical company Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (“Shionogi”), is designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the product candidate in children ages 6-17 with ADHD as a registration-enabling trial. Clinical trial sites have begun enrolling patients, and results of the study are expected in 2H2023.

Cognito’s light-and-sound therapy slows brain tissue atrophy in Alzheimer’s study

After demonstrating last year that its light- and sound-based therapy could help improve memory and cognition among Alzheimer’s patients in an early clinical study, Cognito Therapeutics is going a step deeper. It has new data showing that six months’ use of its digital therapeutic could potentially reduce the rate of atrophy within the brain's white matter. In the phase 2 study, named Overture, participants wore the company’s GammaSense headset at home for one hour per day for six months. Cognito’s analysis compared participants treated in the Overture study, which enrolled 76 people, to historical data collected from a separate, decade-long, global study conducted by the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Institute.

Pear Therapeutics Announces Publication of New Analysis of Real-World Data Showing Reduction in Insomnia Severity, Healthcare Resource Utilization and Associated Costs in Adults Using Somryst®

Pear Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: PEAR), the leader in developing and commercializing software-based medicines called prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs), today announced the publication of new results from a health economic analysis of real-world data to evaluate healthcare resource utilization, associated costs and insomnia severity for Somryst® (previously known as SHUTi in its prior incarnation), the only FDA-authorized PDT for the treatment of chronic insomnia. The analysis evaluated real-world data of 248 adult patients with chronic insomnia treated with Somryst over 24-months compared to the 24-months months prior to treatment and found: Reductions in health-related services; An estimated $2,059 reduction in per-patient costs; 37.2% reduction in mean insomnia severity index (ISI) score (19.1 at baseline and 12.0 at nine weeks).
