Insulet Reports Second Quarter 2015 Financial Results

Insulet Corporation (NASDAQ: PODD), the leader in tubeless insulin pump technology with its OmniPod® Insulin Management System, today announced financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2015. Second quarter 2015 revenue increased 5% to $75.6 million, compared with $72.0 million in the second quarter of 2014.

LabStyle Innovations Corp. (OTCQB: DRIO), developer of the Dario™ Diabetes Management Solution, today reported financial and operational results for the three-month period ended June 30, 2015, provided an update on recent corporate achievements, and an outlook on upcoming milestones. LabStyle's revenues for the second quarter of 2015 amounted to approximately $175,000 compared to approximately $67,000 in the previous quarter and none in the second quarter of 2014.

FDA Approves Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring System

Dexcom announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System. With wireless Bluetooth® technology built into the device transmitter, the G5 Mobile CGM System is the first and only fully mobile CGM system approved by the FDA for both adults and children as young as 2 years of age that sends glucose data directly to a smartphone, freeing users from the need to carry a separate receiver. The new transmitter securely sends vital glucose information directly to an app on iOS-enabled devices for real-time diabetes management. Android applications will follow early next year. Like its predecessor, the G4 PLATINUM CGM with Share, users can also select up to five designated recipients, or "followers”. These followers can remotely monitor a patient's glucose information and receive alert notifications from almost anywhere.

Philips has unveiled a new "connected digital health prototype" that's designed to help type 1 diabetics manage their health and connect with caregivers. the platform is a "collaboration space" for type 1 diabetics and healthcare providers, allowing access to data from electronic medical records and mobile devices, including blood glucose monitors and health and fitness monitors, as well as patient-entered data. Joslin Diabetes Center to pilot test mobile app for Type 1 patients

Joslin Diabetes Center is running a small trial to pilot test a mobile health app and an online nutrition education platform for people with Type 1 diabetes, according to a ClinicalTrials.gov posting . The web platform will help educate patients about how to optimize their glucose and analyze their after-meal behavior. The app will facilitate data logging to help patients and caregivers track and explain variability in their glucose readings. The system is called “Sugar Sleuth”. The study will be a 3-month, 30-person, nonrandomized trial.

Medtronic launches smartphone connectivity for CGMs, insulin pumps

Medtronic has launched its MiniMed Connect system, which allows people with diabetes who use both a Medtronic continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and a Medtronic insulin pump to see data from both device on their smartphone, and send it to their caregiver. "It’s part of our plan to become a holistic diabetes management company," Annette Brüls, President of the Diabetes Service and Solutions business at Medtronic, told MobiHealthNews.
