Japan’s CureApp gets $3.4 million for lifestyle diseases treatment using mobile apps

Japan’s digital health startup CureApp announced on Monday that it has fundraised 380 million yen (about $3.4 million) from Beyond Next Ventures, Keio Innovation Initiative and SBI Investment. This funding is subsequent to the 100 million yen (about $890,000) from Beyond Next Ventures in October of 2015. With the money raised this time, the firm enhances its research and development system in order to realize a disease treatment using mobile apps.

Mayo Clinic deal and $5m funding for health data platform Biofourmis

The startup raised US$5 million from NSI Ventures – part of Singaporean private equity firm Northstar Group – and Aviva Ventures, the VC arm of UK insurance company Aviva. Through its collaboration with the Mayo Clinic, Biofourmis will get access to data from clinical trials and research carried out by the institute.

The Danish HealthTech and healthcare SaaS provider Dawn Health, operating in the UAE and Denmark, has successfully raised $25M in their latest funding round to expand their MENA base. The Series A round was led by a consortium of veteran investors including three Danish entities, namely Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker, Vaekstfonden - The Danish Growth Fund, and angel investor Lars Marcher. Following the investment, Lars Marcher will assume the role as Chairman of the Board of Directors, accompanied by John Rubek Lauritsen from Chr. Healthtech startup Fitterfly raises $12M in Series A round

Healthtech startup Fitterfly has raised $12 million in a Series A round, led by Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund and Fireside Ventures. This follows a $3.1 million in a pre-Series A round it announced last year in April. The latest round takes the total amount raised by the startup to $16.6 million till date. 9 Unicorns, Venture Catalysts, Nihar Parikh of 4point0 Health Ventures, and Sriram Natarajan of Molbio also participated in the round. The Mumbai-based startup will use the capital to enhance its technology stack and branding, and improve the reach of its diabetes management digital therapeutics programme Diabefly.

WellDoc raises $20 million from Merck GHI Fund, Windham
