Owkin expands reach of AI diagnostic for colorectal cancer through integration with Sectra

Owkin, a techbio company that uses artificial intelligence to discover and develop new and better drugs and diagnostics at scale, announced an integration with international medical imaging IT and cybersecurity company Sectra to integrate Owkin’s MSIntuit® CRC AI diagnostic into Sectra’s digital pathology solution. MSIntuit® CRC is the first CE-marked AI diagnostic for microsatellite instability (MSI) testing for colorectal cancer using digital H&E slides. It serves as a pre-screening tool for colorectal cancer patients that aims to streamline MSI testing, saving critical pathology resources by significantly reducing the proportion of patients that need to be fully screened by traditional methods. The announced integration makes it possible for Sectra users all around the world to integrate and use MSIntuit® CRC in a way that it becomes part of the pathologists' existing digital pathology workflow.

MEMS, Novo Nordisk and Roche launch ‘Changing Diabetes® in Children’ project in Malaysia to improve care for children and young adults below the age of 25 living with type 1 diabetes

Novo Nordisk today announced a partnership with the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) and Roche Diagnostics Malaysia (Roche) to launch the Changing Diabetes® in Children (CDiC) project in Malaysia – a long-term initiative with a dedicated focus on improving the quality of care for children and young adults with type 1 diabetes. Children and young adults who have type 1 diabetes in Malaysia will receive free glucose monitoring supplies (glucometer and glucose test strips) – a significant advance in the management of diabetes in children and young adults. With its launch in Malaysia, CDiC will contribute to improving access to care, in line with this year’s World Diabetes Day theme of “Access to Diabetes Care”.

Theranica Enters Into Agreement With Dr. Reddy’s for Commercializing Nerivio® in Europe

Theranica, a neuromodulation therapeutics company, and Dr.Reddy's Laboratories announced an exclusive agreement for the commercial marketing and distribution of Nerivio® in Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, in addition to Germany, which has been agreed on earlier. This comes after Theranica announced in August this year that Nerivio, a novel, drug-free Remote Electrical Neuromodulation wearable for migraine, has received an expanded CE mark approval under MDR European regulation as a dual-use (acute and/or prevention) migraine treatment for adults and adolescents. The commercial agreement between Theranica and various European subsidiaries of Dr. Reddy's includes licensing fees and additional payments in return for the exclusive rights to market Nerivio® in various European countries. This follows an earlier agreement between Theranica and Dr. Reddy's regarding the commercial collaboration in India, for Nerivio®.

Beta Bionics Announces iLet Bionic Pancreas is Now Added to the Express Scripts National Commercial Formularies

Beta Bionics announced that effective November 10th, Express Scripts has added the iLet Bionic Pancreas and associated monthly supplies to their commercial national formulary offerings. For plans that cover the iLet Bionic Pancreas under their pharmacy benefit and use one of these formularies, this decision makes it faster and easier for eligible users to gain access to the iLet Bionic Pancreas. Historically, insulin pumps have been covered through the durable medical equipment (DME) insurance benefit where there may be significant up-front hardware costs to initiate therapy. In many instances the patient and payer share in the financial burden, which locks the patient to the insulin pump for the length of the pump’s four-to-five-year warranty. Coverage under a pharmacy benefit can reduce the potentially large up-front cost of the pump for both the patient and the payer, allowing patients to upgrade their insulin pump when new technology becomes available.

Kakao Healthcare secures deal to distribute Dexcom G7

Kakao Healthcare, the digital arm of South Korean internet company Kakao Corporation, has signed a local sales agreement with pharmaceutical firm Huons to make Dexcom G7 continuous glucose monitors available across South Korea. The sale of the Dexcom G7, which will begin in the first quarter of next year, is part of Kakao Healthcare's initiative to set up a local digital diabetes management service with Dexcom. To recall, the two companies entered into a global collaboration in June 2023.
